The first in a suite of 5 Guitar duets called "Gone to Portugal", a fun, sometimes experimental, autobiographical adventure in seeing what two guitars can do together.
"Coming into Coimbra" is in a sense a set of variations, with the two guitars starting off at a melodic and thematic distance from each other; gradually they converge, dance around each other, and play themselves out, like a foreigner in relation to a new city he has just arrived in. |
